Mystery 7.4v lipo, recommended!

Yes. I’ve had these lipos for quite some time. And all I can say is WOW! For that price, they are more than recommended. They last just as long as a stock lama lipo, and got around the same thrust. Tho I dunno how many charge cycles they can take. So, if you’re thinking about getting some. Stop thinking and order them!

Cheapest lipos out there!

DealExtreme got the cheapest lipo?

Yes, I was just going trough the new arrivals at DX as usual. Since they get like 30-40 new products every day, it’s fun too see how much crap they sell. They even sell a portable water pipe, yes they do!

Anyhow, I saw this very cheap 7.4v 900 mAh lipo, for only $7.78! Now thats a bargain! So I ordered me one too see if it’s any good.

Notice how their logo is in flames? Now I’m suspicious…

Blue Arrow 2.5g Servo

Category : Uncategorized

So, I got some cheap BA 2.5g servo`s for my 5#6. Not sure if I want to change them yet, since my stock servo`s are in working condition. Although the BA servo is around 0.6 g lighter than the stock servo. So it might save me some weight, and be more precise.

To make them fit my 5#6 I need to change the connectors, and glue the pieces that keep the stock servos onto my BA ones. Also I’m a littlebit worried that the servo wont get enough voltage. They are 4.8 – 6.0 v, but some on rc-groups got them working fine.

I also weighted them, and the stock ones are 3.6g. The BA are 3.0g, this is both with wires and plugs.

So, when the day comes that my stock ones starts acting weird. It’s just to attach those Blue Arrow servo`s =)

Wireless Camera & Digital Scale

I’ve just got my new 1.2 Ghz wireless camera. To use with my FP or Lama, or any other rc stuff. Bought it from Rc-fever.com for only 29$(168NOK), it’s a really cheap wireless cam. And it’s quite good compared to what I paid for it. Only problem it needs allot of light, actually I only get good pictures outside.

I made it to fit a JST plug, so it drains power from the LiPo in the heli. So the only weight added to the helicopter is 13 g! So the flight time is the same as without.

Well, heres a video of the cam:

I’ve also got my new digital scale from dealextreme, it’s a 0-1000 g type, with 0.1 g sensitivity. So it’s more than enough for my micro helies and equipment.

Only 67 NOK and free shipping!

LP-Guard & Cheap LiPo

Category : Uncategorized

As a safety precaution when charging/storing my LiPo packs, I bought a LP-Guard. It’s basically a fireproof sack, where you just put your lipos in. I got mine from unitedhobbies at just 17$. So now I finally can sleep at night ^^

And I found a very cheap LiPo for my FP2 at rc711.com. Only 14$ for a 900mAh 7.4v 12C. It’s just as good as my 850 mAh batteries, and since it’s such a cheap pack I can’t complain! I might need to get another one 😀

Honey Bee FP2 – Update

So, it’s been a while since last update.

Been flying alot of battery packs since last update, and broken a few parts. I’m quite impressed how durable the FP2 is, and how easy it is to change parts.

Me and a friend found a big grass field to practice some flying on. For the first time we took sharp turns, while keeping high speed. Sometimes we got too tough and took deep dives resulting in crashing. But the most annoying part was the winds. Especially when going fast forward a wind would lift the heli and gain great altitude.

I also custom modified the canopy with some Norwegian flags and signs.

Also my friends canopy got smashed in a crash, So he got a new black one. Pretty cool!

Parts i broken so far:

1x Paddle control frame
1x Servo push-rod set(one of them)

Oh, and as you maybe can see on the picture of my FP2, the landing skid is repaired. It broke some parts in a crash.

The next step, HoneyBee Fp2

So, I’ve reached the limits of the coax system. Got a lot of blade strikes when I pushed it too far, it’s not a challenge to fly it anymore. Then it was time for me to move onto the single-rotor world.

I bought a E-sky Honey Bee FP2 from miracle-mart, after reading trough rc-groups about new beginner helies. I even created my own thread with a poll, and so that other who know what to get gave me a good push in the right direction. After a while, I bought the FP2. And I love it!

It’s very noob friendly, hard and robust. It can handle some pretty nasty crashes, mostly because it’s much more simple than a CP. And because of it’s weight(290g), also the blades runs at a much lower speed than CP helies.

Less tuning and tweaking than a CP heli, but of course it got it’s downsides. It flies slower than a CP, and slower reaction. But for now it’s all I need! Right now I’m struggling with keeping the heli hovered and turning around. Theres alot to learn when moving on from a lama.

Actually, I wish I just had started on this heli in the first place. Tho the lama gave me some experience, and allot of fun times 🙂

Walkera 5#6 landing on a cd-spindle.

This might sound like a easy thing, but it’s quite hard when you actually do it. Theres alot of ground effect and side winds from the helicopter when you get close to the ground or the spindle. And when you think it’s okay to land, the heli flips and crashes. Well, watch the video 😛

Also, it’s was time for me to move on. To take the next step from the coax, so I just ordered a Esky Honey Bee FP2.

Lama v3, outdoor landing practice.

We all know the coax helies aren’t built for use outside, and we all know everybody flies them outside from time to time.

Actually, it’s very good to practice landing outside. You got allkinds of winds coming in, and you need to counter them. So it’s quite hard to make it land nicely, sometimes you just touch down hard. So, I recorded some of my landings.
